Friday Night: We have our own screening of the new Ford vs Ferrari movie on Friday, November 15th at 7:00 pm. Location is at Angelica Cinema at 11620 Carmel Mountain Road 92128. This a great place to watch a movie… reclining seats, adult meals and drinks, along with the usual popcorn & sodas. Map to theater: click here. Cost is $15.00 per person and the theater seats 72. Saturday Afternoon: General Meeting and Car Show - Bring your club cars!!. We will start the afternoon with a brief regular general meeting (at the same movie theater/location as above) from 1:30 to 2:00pm. Pizza and sodas will be served. Saturday Afternoon: As part of the hype of the new movie “Fords vs Ferrari” we have been asked to set up a Show & Shine Cobra Car show in front of the Angelica Cinema. The theater is the same as our movie preview, 11620 Carmel Mountain Road, 92128, time 2:00pm – 6:00 pm. Park directly in front of the theater. We will occupy 15 stalls on each side of the sidewalk for a total of 20 cars with room to walk around the cars. This area is nicely shaded and make an attractive spot to show off the cars, photo shows the parking stalls we will be taking. Typically held mid-day on the first Saturday of December and typically held at Les Werling's shop. Typically, after a social hour and catered meal a meeting will be held that includes the election of officers for the next year. Then a gift exchange rounds out the event. October 5th – Saturday – Cruise to Idyllwild ... Click for details

Our annual Idyllwild Lunch Cruise will be Saturday, October 5th. At 8:00 am, arrive with a full tank of gas at our meeting place at the North County Fair Mall 272 East Via Ranch Parkway / Escondido in the parking lot between the Black Angus and J.C. Penny’s. We will depart at 8:15 with a comfort stop planned at Dudley’s Bakery in Santa Isabel. Lunch will be at the Famous Lumber Mill Bar and Grill in the center of town (25985 CA-243, Idyllwild CA 92549). They will try to cordon off some parking in front of the restaurant for us and there is parking behind the restaurant as well. There is fuel at a Chevron next to the restaurant for the ride back. The ride back will take us back through Anza and into some “twisties” getting us back to North Escondido by 2:30 or you can skip the twisties and get back on the I-15 South. The run is open to any and all Shelby and Ford powered or related vehicles. Rendezvous at 0845 in the Costco/Ikea parking lot, with a full tank of gas, in Mission Valley, 2345 Fenton Parkway 92108, with a departure time of 0900. We will proceed approximately 54 miles to the Motor Transportation Museum at 31949 CA-94 in Campo 91906. After a docent lead tour and self-guided tour of the museum and grounds we will proceed approximately 12 miles to Golden Acorn Casino for lunch. After lunch, those that want to head home can depart from the Casino, and those that want to continue the cruise can head over Sunrise Highway to Julian and Santa Ysabel and home from there. After the meeting we will travel east ¼ mile on Miramar Road. to The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum 4230 Anderson Avenue (directly across the street from Rush Truck center). You can miss all the aircraft on the right. Admission of free, but they would like a donation ($10.00???). The museum has an indoor facility with lots of incredible photos models and facts, but the eye candy is outside with 35 aircraft to see. This is a special day as they will have four to five cockpits open for visitors to get in and experience the real deal. Bring the kids and grandkids for some good x-mass photos! August 2nd - Friday – SoCalSAAC featured @ Escondido Cruising Grand ...Click for details

Come help share the love of Carroll Shelby at this annual event when SoCalSAAC will be a featured club at Crusin’ Grand in Escondido. All club members and guests with performance Fords are encouraged to participate. Enter eastbound on West 2nd Ave from Center City Parkway and turn left onto Broadway. Encouraged early afternoon arrivals can park close by until Broadway closes to traffic for the staging of the featured show cars about 4:30pm. Show space parking for SoCalSAAC has been set-aside on the right side of Broadway at the crosswalk on the south side of Grand Ave. Club member participation is needed to favorably represent our club! THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN. IT WILL BE RESCHEDULED AT A LATER DATE. At 8:00am with a full tank of gas rendezvous at the Westfield Mall at North County Fair at 272 East Via Rancho Parkway, Escondido, CA 92025, between the Black Angus restaurant and JC Penny’s. Gas is available just across the street. The only scheduled gas stop will be after lunch, 112 miles from the morning departure location. This event is open to club members and GUESTS with performance Ford cars including Shelby Mustang 350/500s, GT 40s, Panteras, Cobra Roadsters, Coupes and others. With a departure at 8:15am followed by a comfort stop at the famous Dudley’s Bakery in Santa Ysabel a no host lunch will be held on the patio at the Lumber Mill Bar and Grill in the center of town (lumbermillidyllwild.com) at 25985 CA-243, Idyllwild, CA 92549. With plenty of parking in back, they have offered to cordon off special/display street-front parking for up to 8 of our vehicles. Chevron gas is available close to the restaurant at 25015 CA-243. At 08:00, rendezvous with a full tank of gas at North County Fair Westfield Mall, 272 East Via Rancho Parkway, Escondido, CA, 92025, between J.C.Penny’s and Black Angus. Gas is available on the east side of I-15 (exit #27). Departure will be no earlier than 08:30. Outbound Route: CA-78, C-79, CA-371, CA-74, CA-111 with comfort stops in Santa Ysabel and Anza. No gas stops planned for this 115 mile cruise until after lunch. We have a lunch reservation @ Cactus Jack’s at 74-450 Hwy 111 @ 11:30am, followed by a gas stop and an optional return trip rendezvous at the Chevron Station next door. Return route will be to retrace our route to Aguanga but turn right onto CA-79 into Temecula (ETA: ~3:15pm) for a comfort stop at the ARCO station on the right at 44239 Margarita Rd, Temecula, 92592. Be a spectator or participate with your own car at the drag races at the Barona Speedway, 1750 Wildcat Canyon Road, Lakeside, CA 92040. www.baronadrags.com. All day registration to drive is $40, spectators: $15, 10-17yrs: $10, under 10yrs: free. Bring a car to race or come for the show. Gates open at 8am, racing from 10am to 4pm; parking is available. Parties interested in caravanning to the Barona Speedway can meet at 9am in front of the Starbucks at Fenton Market Place in Mission Valley, 2245 Fenton Parkway, 92108 (no RSVP needed). With a full tank of gas, rendezvous at 8:50am at the 94th Aero Squadron, 8885 Balboa Ave. for brunch ($32/person). Or just meet in the parking lot for a cruz departure time of no earlier than 10am. The cruz will take us through Ocean Beach, along Sunset Cliffs and out to the end of Point Loma for a group photo at the lighthouse (Cabrillo National Monument parking pass: $5/vehicle). From there, we’re onto Seaport Village ($16/2 hours parking) with a stop for a Ben & Jerry’s mid-day treat. At 12:00-noon, we will rendezvous in the Café parking lot with Orange County Factory Five Cobra owners. NOTE: THIS EVENT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN. With a full tank of gas, rendezvous at 05:45am at the Chevron Gas Station 850 Palomar Road, Carlsbad 92008 (by the windmill). With a departure not before 06:00am we expect to make a comfort stop at Hillbank Motors located at 1 Whatney, Irvine, 92618. About 07:00 a caravan will depart for the Peterson Museum www.Petersen.org, located at 6060 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, 90036. At 08:15am rendezvous with a full tank of gas, at the Starbucks in Fenton Market Place (Mission Valley) at 2245 Fenton Parkway #110, San Diego 92108. With the departure not before 08:15 the cruise takes us about 100 miles over about 2 hours. There will be one comfort stop in Pine Valley to stretch our legs and use the bathroom. No food however gas is close by if needed. About 11am we will arrive at Glen Abby Memorial Park and Mortuary, located at 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, 91902. After spending a few minutes at the gravesite we will depart for Karina’s Mexican Restaurant, 89 Bonita Road, Bonita 92010 where we can expect reserved parking and reserved seating in the restaurant at 12-noon. Non-club member GUESTS with performance Fords are welcome to join in any portion of this event. Any friends of Tim or Hank that do not wish to participate in the cruise may join us at the Mortuary and or lunch. December 1st – Saturday – Annual Christmas Party & Meeting w/Elections ... Click for details

HO, H0, HO – It is that jolly time of year again. SoCalSAAC is hosting its annual membership & guest Christmas Party on Saturday, December 1st, 2018 from 11am to 3pm. What a great way to get in to the holiday sprit. It will again be held indoors at member Les Werling’s private shop located at 2892 S. Santa Fe Ave, San Marcos, CA 92069. The early RSVP check is $10 per person when received by Monday, November 26th; thereafter, late RSVPs are $15. RSVP checks need to be made payable to SoCalSAAC and mailed to President Craig Van Wanseele, 1060 Barona Road, San Diego, CA 92040. You may participate in the ever-popular gift exchanges if you bring a wrapped gift with a value of not less than $20.00 (no gag gifts!). This year there will also be a “Ladies only” Gift Exchange. Following a social hour, lunch with a selection of non-alcoholic beverages, catered by Feliccia’s Italian will be served about noon. A short end-of-the-year meeting will follow the meal. NEW Time & Location 0800, Location: Starbucks 2245 Fenton Pkwy, Mission Valley, 92108. Member & Guest driving Shelby Cobras (Roadsters, GT 350, GT 500), and High Performance Ford Products are welcome. Meeting starts promptly at 0800 coffee & donuts will be avialable. Immediately after the meeting you may join the cruz, or not, heading out to breakfast and Helicopter Museaum tour. If you plan to cruise; come with a full tank of gas. With a departure no earlier than 0900 the cruise will head out I-8 then CA-79 thru Julian leading to breakfast at the Apple Country Restaurant located at 30270 CA-78, Santa Ysabel 92070 – next to Dudley’s. After the meal it is a short run to the Classic Rotor Museum in Ramona (https://www.rotors.org) located at 2690 Montecito Road, Ramona 92065. The Borrego Days Festival and Car Show, back by popular demand, has become the longest running annual event for our club. A fun filled day in the desert. Pre-registration is FREE but required for the free lunch. The Festival Car Show registration form may be found at https://form.jotform.com/81276500045146. Participants are to rendezvous with a full tank of gas at 6:45am (earlier than in the past years) at the Westfield Mall at North County Fair at 272 East Via Rancho Parkway, Escondido, CA 91901, in front of the Black Angus restaurant. Departure not before 07:00am and with a comfort stop in Santa Ysabel ETA Christmas Circle, Borrego Springs is 9:00am for car show load-in. (This is actually a 3-day event but SoCalSAAC only participates in the car show on Saturday.) GUESTS WITH FORD PERFORMANCE CARS ARE WELCOME. RSVP To Event Coordinator: Steve Ulmer, email Steve.
